Book your workshop easily for your preferred date. In these workshops, you explore different exhibition topics in a creative way. You create your own handmade pieces and can take them home. This hands-on experience helps you understand the exhibition better and remember it longer.

The ROMANS Workshop BRACELET: from preschool age

The children design their own Roman bracelet and learn about the significance of jewelry in everyday Roman life. They emboss typical patterns into metal foil and attach them to leather – a shiny souvenir to take home with them.

 

Skills:

  • Cultural understanding: jewelry, simple symbolism
  • Craftsmanship: embossing metal foil, working with leather
  • Creative design: developing patterns, individual decoration

THE ROMANS Workshop MOSAIC: from 3rd grade

The students learn about Roman mosaics and then design their own small work of art – stone by stone. At the end, all the individual pieces are put together to form a large communal mosaic.

 

Skills:

  • Creative design: developing patterns and color combinations
  • Fine motor skills: precisely placing small stones
  • Social skills: contributing to a collaborative work of art

THE ROMANS Workshop PIN: 
from 3rd grade

The students make a reproduction of a fibula – a garment clasp worn by Romans. A real cast is used to create their own piece of history, which is then colored and fitted with a pin.

 

Skills:

  • Historical understanding: function of the fibula, clothing
  • Craftsmanship: working with casts, shaping and designing
  • Creative design: individual coloring, decoration

THE ROMANS Workshop LOCDVNVM: from 5th grade

In this workshop, participants work together to build the ideal Roman city of LOCDVNVM using original LEGO® bricks. Each child follows instructions to assemble a LEGO set, which is then combined with others in the exhibition to form a large city. 
The exhibition educator explains how a Roman city was structured and functioned. At the end, each child will mint their own coin as a souvenir.

 

THE ROMANS Workshop road builder: for 1st grade and up

In this workshop, each child follows instructions to assemble a road set that will be added to the Roman city of LOCDVNVM. The educator will explain how a Roman city was built and functioned. At the end, each child will mint their own coin as a souvenir.

  • Cultural understanding: Structure, function of a Roman city
  • Spatial thinking: Understanding city structure and architecture
  • Craftsmanship: Minting coins
