Elevators

The exhibition contains a 2nd level, which wheelchair users and people with walking disabilities can reach via a special elevator. Our security staff will help you with the operation.

 

Exhibition rooms

The exhibition has a barrier-free exhibition architecture. For blind and visually impaired visitors we offer a high-contrast design. Detailed room and object texts as well as subtitles by audiovisual media are available for deaf visitors or hearing-impaired people. The exhibits are visibly presented and can be viewed while standing or sitting.

 

Audio tours

Audio tours in German and English are available for blind and visually impaired visitors. For hearing aid wearers, we offer induction loops for the use of the audio guides. The induction loops are available free of charge at the exhibition box offices. Assistance dogs, which are indispensable as permanent companion dogs for people with physical and/or mental disabilities, may be taken into the exhibition! Ground conditions

All exhibition rooms that are accessible for wheelchair users have easily accessible floors.

 

Gastronomy

Access to the Lokeria is stepless via the foyer or via the outdoor area (terrace).

 

Entrance to the exhibition

Wheelchair users are kindly asked to use the marked door for wheelchair users, which can be opened with the entrance ticket (access width 95.5 cm). The entrance door to the exhibition opens automatically.

 

Guided tours and workshops

Barrier-free guided tours and educational programs support visitors with sensory, learning or intellectual disabilities in opening up the exhibition. For people with hearing disabilities, we offer special tours with tour guides for better understanding. For groups with a handicap, the highlight tour lasts 90 minutes at no extra charge.

 

Wardrobes

Lockers are located in the basement of the Lokschuppen. Access is by elevator.

 

Main entrance

The main entrance to the exhibition center is stepless, the foyer is accessible across a small threshold of 4 cm.

 

Cash desk

Access to the cash desk area is possible for wheelchair users. Wheelchair users have priority at the cash desks!

 

Parking spaces

People with walking disabilities or wheelchairs may park in the designated parking spaces on the forecourt of the locomotive shed. Access to the forecourt (Laziseplatz) is via the Reichenbach barrier. Please ring the bell at the barrier to gain entry. Please display your blue EU parking permit visibly in your car.

 

Wheelchairs

If required, a wheelchair can be borrowed from the exhibition box office.

 

Shop

A shop for the exchibition is located in the foyer. The shop is also accessible for wheelchair users!

 

Seating

Light folding chairs, which can be easily brought along during the exhibition visit, are available to borrow free of charge and can be found at the ticket offices in the LOSKCHUPPEN EXHIBITION CENTER (self-service).

 

Playground

The playground, located outside the building, is accessible for wheelchair users. Some playground equipment is accessible for wheelchair users.

 

Toilets

There is a disabled toilet in the basement. Access to the disabled toilet is via an elevator. The door to the toilet has a clear passage width of 85.5 cm. A changing table is available. The width next to the toilet is 81 cm on the left and 82 cm on the right. There are folding handles on the left and right side. The washbasin can be driven under and has a barrier-free mirror, which can be seen both while standing and sitting.

 

Please report to the employees at the cash desks to avoid staning in line unnecessarily.
