Guided Tour: Gods, Tableware, and Graves – The Romans in Rosenheim
How did the Romans live in Rosenheim? This guided tour offers a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of everyday Roman life in the region—from secret cults and mass production to attitudes toward death. Beyond archaeological sites and daily life, the tour highlights three key themes that set Rosenheim apart in the context of the Roman era, far beyond the region. The Cult of Mithras – a mysterious secret society involving bull sacrifices and mystical symbolism: What fascinated the Romans so much about this cult – and what traces of it can we find in the Rosenheim area? Terra Sigillata – fine tableware produced in vast quantities in Westerndorf/St. Peter. How did mass production work 2,000 years ago, and how did this gleaming tableware reach the borders of the Roman Empire? Roman burial rituals – presented in a modern way and full of fascinating details about graves, discovery stories, and life after death. The tour brings history to life – with in-depth information and interactive insights.
