Orion-Tour
Parallel with the beginning of the UNO-Year of the
Desert (www.unesco.ch)
on the 1st of January 2006, Andrea Vogel (www.andreavogel.ch)
heads off on an extraordinary journey through the largest
desert on earth: the Sahara. Starting point will be
the legendary town Timbuktu in Mali. Her goal is the
trading city Marrakesh in Morocco. In-between lies one
of the most fascinating and most unexplored landscapes
of our planet. This south-/north passage was the most
important route for the gold and salt trading caravans
from Dark Africa to Europe during the medieval times.
